Panthers CB Josh Norman questions comments
Carolina Panthers cornerback Josh Norman is proud Benjamin Watson Limited Jersey of the way he covered Atlanta Falcons receiver Julio Jones last season, so he responded sharply to a comment ESPN analyst Jon Gruden made during Monday night's game between the Falcons and Philadelphia Eagles. Gruden said during the first quarter of Atlanta's 26-24 win that he hadn't "seen anybody cover Julio Jones in the last couple of years." Jones caught nine passes for 141 yards and two touchdowns while being covered most of the night by Eagles cornerback Byron Maxwell, who got a six-year, $63 million extension during the offseason. A two-time Pro Bowler, Jones was limited to a combined 10 catches and 107 yards and no touchdowns in two games last season against Carolina with Norman shadowing him for most of the games. He averaged 99.5 yards receiving a game in 2014. "Yeah, I've been seeing that," Norman said of Kareem Jackson Nike Jerseys Gruden's comment. "That goes to show you how much he watches film, or how much he pays attention to what goes on to the people he's watching in the NFL. "That's all I've got to say about that." But that wasn't all Norman said about the game and how Maxwell covered Jones. "Both of them are great players," said Norman, who did not get the big extension he wanted from Carolina before the season. "But I just know Julio. It's kind of what he does and how he brings to the table. It's much different than any other wide receiver. And when you're a DB, you can't play him like you play other wide receivers. If you give him releases like that he's going to do that to you 99.9 percent of the time. "I knew it was going to be probably a Zach Brown Elite Jersey long day for him," he said, referring to Maxwell. Jones appeared on Atlanta's injury report this week with hamstring soreness, but coach Dan Quinn said he has no doubt Jones will play on Sunday against the New York Giants. "None," Quinn said when pressed.
