Mike Fisher Youth Jersey The following is an edited version of the official release from the NHL: NASHVILLE (January 29, 2016) -- The National Hockey League announced today the All-Star assignments for Saturday's 2016 Honda NHL All-Star Skills CompetitionTM at Bridgestone Arena in Nashville. A fan favorite that has showcased hockey’s top talent at NHL All-Star Weekend since 1990, the event will be broadcast live on NBCSN in the U.S. and on CBC, Sportsnet and TVA Sports in Canada at 7 p.m., ET / 6 p.m., CT. The top stars from the Eastern Conference will compete against the Western Conference throughout the night for points in the overall team vs. team competition. Individual champions also will be crowned. The NHL All-Stars will participate in six events: ·Fastest Skater ·Breakaway Challenge ·Accuracy Shooting ·Skills Challenge Relay ·Hardest Shot ·Shootout Justin Faulk Youth Jersey Team captains, Jaromir Jagr and John Tavares for the Eastern Conference, and Patrick Kane and John Scott for the Western Conference, led the team selection process to determine which players will participate in the six Honda NHL All-Star Skills Competition™ events. Each All-Star will compete in at least one of the six rounds of skill-based contests. The winning Conference earns the right to select when its semifinal matchup will be played, first or second, for the 2016 Honda NHL All-Star Game on Sunday. The Central Division All-Stars will face the Pacific Division All-Stars and the Atlantic Division All-Stars will face the Metropolitan Division All-Stars in the two semifinal games of the three-game tournament played in a 3-on-3 format. The racetrack for the head-to-head matchups is the border of the rink split in half lengthwise. Timing devices will record each skater to determine the winner of each match. If a race ends in a tie, each of the teams will be awarded one point. The skater with the fastest time in the head-to-head matchups will skate a full lap of the outside border of the rink, in the direction of their choosing, in an attempt to break Mike Gartner’s record of 13.386 seconds. If, at the completion of the event, two skaters are tied for the fastest overall time, both skaters will skate a full lap of the rink in an attempt to break the historical best record. Points Available: 6 – The winner of each matchup scores one point; the team with the fastest skater scores a bonus point; if the fastest skater is successful in breaking Gartner’s record, an additional bonus point will be awarded. Fans will have two opportunities to vote in the Breakaway Challenge.
