Concussion doctor who handled RG3 case resigns from post

The independent neurological consultant who http://www.nflcowboysofficial.com/Authentic-Deion-Sanders-Jersey reversed course on Washington Redskins quarterback Robert Griffin III's post-concussion playing status has resigned and been replaced as the team's concussion doctor. NFL spokesman Brian McCarthy confirmed to The Associated Press on Saturday that Robert Kurtzke left the consultant program operated jointly by the league and the players' union. McCarthy said Kurtzke will stay on to continue to monitor Griffin's status and determine when he can be cleared to play. A message left by the AP at Kurtzke's office Saturday was not immediately returned. Abraham Kader is the new NFL-NFLPA independent neurological consultant assigned to the Redskins, McCarthy said. The Washington Post first reported Kurtzke's resignation and continued involvement with Griffin's case. Last month, Griffin missed Washington's exhibition Cowboys Jeff Heath Womens Jersey game at the Baltimore Ravens because of a concussion in the Redskins' previous game, at home against the Detroit Lions on Aug. 20. Two days before the Aug. 29 game against the Ravens, the Redskins announced Griffin had been cleared by a doctor to play. The next day, though, about 24 hours before kickoff in Baltimore, they changed direction and said Griffin would be held out of the game. At the time of the reversal, the Redskins sent out a press release quoting Kurtzke, who said: ''We had anticipated yesterday that the patient would be cleared for full participation in game play this weekend. However, upon further scrutiny today of the neuropsychology data, I agree with the neuropsychologist that he should be held from game play this weekend.'' The next week, Redskins coach Jay Gruden - who had Cowboys Jed Collins Authentic Jersey said in February that Griffin would be the team's starting quarterback this season - named Kirk Cousins the QB for 2015. Gruden said that decision was not because of Griffin's head injury, but because Cousins earned the job with his play in the preseason.

NFL's Brady empathizes with banned Pats staffers

New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady said http://www.officialbroncosnflauthentic.com/WOMENS_YOUTH_RYAN_CLADY_JERSEY.html Sunday he didn't care to share his personal feelings about the protracted "Deflate-gate" saga, preferring to look toward the upcoming NFL season now that he's cleared to play. "Anything that has happened over the past seven months, obviously I have a lot of personal feelings. But I really don't care to share many of those," said Brady whose four-game suspension in the under-inflated ball controversy was vacated by a New York judge on Thursday. Brady's remarks in the Patriots' locker room in Massachusetts marked the first time he had taken questions from reporters since his post-game news conference after being named Most Valuable Player of Super Bowl 49 in February. Brady expressed concern for Patriots equipment staffers John Jastremski and Jim McNally, who remain suspended after a league investigation pointed at them as figures involved in purposely deflating game balls below league air pressure minimums. "It's been a very tough situation for Broncos Karl Mecklenburg Womens Jersey everybody," said Brady, who declined to say if he'd been in touch with McNally and Jastremski. "It's put a lot of stress on everybody's families," Brady said. "I feel bad that anybody is in the position that we've been put in. "Hopefully we can just keep learning from life's experiences, and I certainly feel terrible for them that they're not able to be with us right now." Although Thursday's ruling frees Brady to play, the league promptly appealed, and the case is expected to linger in the courts long into the season. "That's their choice, and I think that's part of this process," Brady said. "My part is to get ready to play football, and that's what I'm really excited to do." The Patriots launch their campaign for a fifth Super Bowl title on Thursday when they host the Pittsburgh Steelers. Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger said that he "wasn't surprised at all" that Brady's suspension was overturned. "Big Ben" told reporters on a conference Broncos Kyle Williams Elite Jersey call that while he hadn't followed the legal ins and outs closely he felt NFL commissioner Roger Goodell had "jumped to a pretty harsh punishment." Roethlisberger said the Patriots will be harder to beat with Brady at the helm. "But a bigger part of you as a competitor wants him out there because he is the best," Roethlisberger said.

Motorsport must find a way to protect drivers

The debate about cockpit head protection in Formula Cowboys La'el Collins Authentic Jersey 1 and other single-seater racing categories has been reignited by the death of British driver Justin Wilson in an IndyCar accident last week. In fact, Wilson's death has merely underlined what was already obvious - this is a problem that needs solving as soon as possible. The fatal incident involving Wilson, who was 37, was the latest in a series of accidents that have highlighted that the drivers' heads are now the single biggest concern in crashes of this type of racing car. Beyond that, there have been a series of close calls. In F1 this year, two-time world champion Fernando Alonso has twice had accidents which highlighted the vulnerability of the head as a major concern in F1. The Spaniard suffered concussion in a crash at Barcelona in pre-season testing, and was lucky not to be injured when his McLaren ended up on top of Kimi Raikkonen's Ferrari after the Finn lost control on the first lap of the Austrian Grand Prix. Even at the most recent F1 meeting in Belgium just over a week ago two accidents in support races highlighted this concern. In the GP2 race, Daniel de Jong hit his helmet on the tyre barrier in an accident in which he also suffered a broken back; and in the GP3 event a loose wheel hit the front of the car of Matt Parry, just a couple of feet from his helmet, an incident very similar to the one that killed Surtees. Then there was the series of crashes in Cowboys Lance Dunbar Elite Jersey practice for this year's Indy 500 in which cars overturned at more than 200mph. Each one of those accidents can be - and has been - described as "freak", in the sense that the specific circumstances were unusual and unlikely to be repeated. But it is abundantly clear that there is a trend about which something needs to be done. This is a large part of the reason why the F1 drivers were so sensitive to the two high-speed tyre failures suffered by Nico Rosberg and Sebastian Vettel at the Belgian Grand Prix. Rosberg and Vettel - and their colleagues - were very aware that had those incidents happened a couple of hundred metres earlier or later, they would have led to very severe crashes at close to 200mph. When I started racing in the 1980s, the biggest concern tended to be severe leg injuries, or big crashes that might not have killed you, but gave you major problems for the rest of your life. There are a lot of ex-F1 drivers from the 1980s http://www.nflcowboysofficial.com/Authentic-Larry-Allen-Jersey walking around with pronounced limps at the moment because of the vulnerability of drivers' legs in an F1 car in those years. And Martin Donnelly is an example of the full-body crash. His Lotus pretty much exploded around him when he crashed at Jerez in 1990, and he was very badly smashed up in the impact. But as safety has improved in a number of areas - the understanding of carbon fibre, how to attach suspension more effectively, impact tests and so on - the majority of serious accidents now involve head or spinal injuries. Head injuries were always the ones I worried about most in my career, because the recovery from them is so unpredictable. Motorsport must find a way to protect drivers

Lewis Hamilton: Going blond & being at ease with myself

I suppose I shouldn't be surprised that my new Broncos Owen Daniels Authentic Jersey hairstyle attracted a lot of attention when I arrived at Monza for the start of the Italian Grand Prix weekend on Thursday. I had it dyed blond a few days ago in Los Angeles. It was just something I fancied doing on the spur of the moment. I am in a very experimental period of my life. I like taking risks, I like trying new things, whether it be style or restaurants or whatever. I was at the hairdresser and I just thought: "I'm going to try it, let's do it." Zero cares. It's short term. I'll keep it for this weekend and then I'll probably go back next week, and who knows, maybe I'll do something different. I went from LA, where I attended the MTV video awards, to New York and then back to Europe for this weekend's race in Italy. From time to time, I notice that I sometimes get a bit of criticism for going back to America so often, and attending some of the events I go to. Formula 1 is the sort of place where people tend to have an opinion about everything and usually they tend to believe their own opinion is the right one, even if it relates to someone else. I certainly lead a different life Broncos Peyton Manning Limited Jersey from many people. I have a great life that I am thankful for and I like travelling. If I don't travel, if I stay at home for a week, I would go out of my mind. That is just the way I am. I love to be on the move and I am fortunate that I have friends all over the world. There is a personal side of things to the time I spend in the States, and also a business angle. I spend time over there partly because I have projects that I am working on that require me to be at meetings and so on. Always, though, I am trying to balance to the best of my abilities my training, health, and mental and physical condition. Until this year, I cared what people thought and tried to live to people's own expectations rather than my own. But I turned 30 over the winter and I have really got to a point in my life where I am comfortable in myself and I would never make any decision if I felt it was detrimental to my performance in the car, which is the number one priority. Sometimes I would see some of the comments people made about me and wonder whether they realised what I had achieved. It's like me commenting on how someone else dresses. It doesn't matter what I think; what's important is how you feel inside. If changing my attitude on this has helped http://www.officialbroncosnflauthentic.com/WOMENS_YOUTH_RONNIE_HILLMAN_JERSEY.html me drive better, it's subconscious; it's not something I'm aware of. But I am certainly really enjoying this year and I have really found a good balance between all aspects of my life. I feel like I have been switching between extremes before. Initially, it was too far towards the quiet side - girlfriend wants to go out, and I'd say: "No, I have to be up early to train." Then, I might occasionally have gone too far the other way, and now I have found the middle way that works for me.

Patriots ready for Brady or no Brady

Seahawks Steven Hauschka Womens Jersey No matter U.S. District Judge Richard M. Berman's ruling, the New England Patriots are prepared to move forward with or without star quarterback Tom Brady. Brady's fate will be decided sometime in the next few days, but until then the Patriots will continue to operate like the four-time Super Bowl champion is going to be there or not. ''We're going about our business as usual,'' second-year quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo said before Tuesday's full-pads practice on the upper grass fields outside Gillette Stadium. Berman will deliver a written ruling this week on Brady's appeal of his four-game suspension for his involvement in an effort to deflate footballs before last January's AFC title game. ''It won't be today, but hopefully tomorrow or the day after,'' Berman said Monday. Brady has denied any wrongdoing and failed to reach a settlement with NFL commissioner Roger Goodell in Monday's final hearing at a Manhattan federal court in New York City. New England Patriots head coach Bill Belichick listens to a reporter's question during a media a … Brady returned to practice Tuesday, but Garoppolo has taken the first-team snaps in his absence and did so again Monday, lending credence to the belief that he will start the season opener against the Pittsburgh Steelers on Sept. 10 in Foxborough should Brady's suspension be upheld. ''We'll approach that when we get there,'' said Garoppolo, surrounded by cameras and reporters at his locker. ''We've got a little ways to go still, so next Thursday we'll figure it out.'' Garoppolo has yet to start an NFL game but played in six as a rookie in 2014. This preseason, he has completed 76.3 percent of his passes (61 of 80) for 554 yards - second-most among all NFL quarterbacks during the exhibition schedule - two touchdowns and two interceptions. Seahawks Tharold Simon Youth Jersey ''You've got to come into this, whether you're a starter (or) backup, you've got to have a starter mentality,'' Garoppolo said. ''You never know when your number's going to get called.'' In non-Brady news, the Patriots acquired wide receiver and punt returner Jalen Saunders from the New Orleans Saints for an undisclosed draft pick and claimed rookie wideout DaVaris Daniels from the Minnesota Vikings. View gallery New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady (12) and wide receiver Julian Edelman (11) stretch during … Additionally, fullback James Develin was placed on the season-ending injured reserve after he broke his right tibia in Friday's preseason game at Carolina. Develin, who had two catches for 17 yards, broke his leg in the fourth quarter. ''I saw him yesterday, and he's doing well,'' Patriots coach Bill Belichick said. ''I think he's got a good attitude. I was happy to see him. It's good to see him back here.'' Defensive back Darryl Roberts was placed on injured reserve while linebacker Dane Fletcher and defensive back Chris Jones landed on the physically unable to perform/reserve list. New England announced its second round of roster cuts Tuesday, releasing guard Chris Barker and linebacker D.J. Lynch to drop the roster to 75 ahead of Tuesday's mandatory league-wide cutdown. ''Every day, every opportunity, every rep out there on the field is job opportunity,'' wide receiver Danny Amendola said of his experiences with cut week. ''That's the way you've got to take it.'' The Patriots began their roster purge Monday, releasing http://www.seahawksofficialnflonline.com/WOMENS_YOUTH_TONY_MCDANIEL_JERSEY.html wide receivers Josh Boyce and Jonathan Krause, tight end Jimmay Mundine, defensive lineman Joe Vellano, and linebacker Dekoda Watson. Boyce, the Patriots' fourth-round draft pick in 2013, appeared in 10 games with New England over two seasons, including nine last year when he had nine catches for 121 yards. Vellano played in all 16 games and started eight in 2013, recording 22 tackles and two sacks.

udge announces no settlement in Tom Brady talks

Tom Brady and NFL commissioner Roger Goodell have http://www.chargersshopnfl.com/Authentic-Jeremiah-Attaochu-Jersey failed to reach a settlement in the quarterback's appeal of his four-game suspension for his involvement in the Deflategate scandal. U.S. District Court Judge Richard M. Berman announced Monday that the sides will not settle the case, saying he will announce a ruling as early as Tuesday and no later than Friday. "It won't be today, but hopefully tomorrow or the day after," said Berman, who stated that he is putting the final touches on his decision. Speaking at a hearing that lasted less than five minutes, Berman noted that senior executives from the league and the NFL Players Association who had not attended several previous settlement talks joined more than an hour of negotiations Monday morning. Giants president and co-owner John Mara took part, as did free-agent kicker Jay Feely, Berman said. Feely is a member of the union's executive committee, and Mara is chairman of the NFL's executive committee that oversees labor matters. Mara left the courtroom prior to Berman's announcement and told ESPN's Sal Paolantonio, "There's not going to be a settlement, as far as I know." Outside court, Feely said the sides tried their best for a settlement. "We want to thank the court," Feely said. "We tried our best to reach a settlement that we did not reach. But I think for us, it reinforces the desire and need for an independent arbitrator in these matters of personal conduct. But we understand Tom's position, and I think the process will work itself out." Berman said he had "no qualms" about Chargers Jason Verrett Womens Jersey the willingness of both sides to try to reach a settlement in the controversy that has hung over the NFL since Brady and the New England Patriots easily defeated the Indianapolis Colts in the AFC Championship Game in January. Goodell upheld Brady's suspension in July after an appeal, and the NFL wants confirmation that it handled the case appropriately. Brady wants the suspension nullified and repeatedly has disputed the league's ruling that he and Patriots equipment staff colluded to deflate footballs before New England's 45-7 victory over Indianapolis. A ruling this week by Berman would give Brady enough time to prepare in case he can start New England's regular-season opener against Pittsburgh on Sept. 10. Berman had ordered Brady and Goodell to http://www.chargersshopnfl.com/Authentic-Junior-Seau-Jersey attend Monday's hearing. Both arrived 90 minutes early to participate in talks in the judge's robing room. Berman has said a settlement would be "rational and logical" but also cited weaknesses in the way the NFL handled the controversy. The judge has also suggested that the league's finding was too vague, that Brady was generally aware that game balls were being deflated. At a court hearing this month, Berman told the NFL there was precedent for judges to toss out penalties issued by arbitrators.

Showman strikes again at World Championships

So now we know: the way to bring down Usain Bolt Chargers Keenan Allen Youth Jersey is to blindside him with a Segway. Even then it was too late. By the time a cameraman chasing the great champion had clipped his winged heels and sent them both to the deck, Bolt was halfway round his lap of honour and his latest line-up of victims trudging out of the stadium with their spikes slung round their necks. The 100m final had been close. Only one hundredth of a second had separated Bolt and his rival Justin Gatlin on Sunday night, even if a chasm opened up between them in the aftermath. This 200m showdown, the rematch, the chance for Gatlin to gain revenge and a little glory after all the controversy and carping of the last seven days? This one was over in less than two-hundredths of a second. Bolt's reaction time from his blocks was 0.147 seconds. Gatlin's was 0.161. The gap between them would only grow. For a man who has so regularly made the impossible real, Bolt's victories can also seem pre-ordained and predictable within moments of him hurtling alone through the line. He is almost a victim of his own brilliance. There seems no room for doubt, even if it was an unacknowledged guest in minds around the world before he settled into his blocks. It is another of his great conjuring tricks. Coming into these championships Gatlin had run more than two tenths of a second faster over 200m than any other man in the field this year, and almost half a second quicker than Bolt. Only in Wednesday night's semi-finals had Bolt gone Bears Pernell McPhee Womens Jersey under 20 seconds for the first time, and then by the thickness of a yellow Jamaican vest. Gatlin has been so consistently quick this year that his collapse in the 100m seemed surely to have been a costly aberration. Aim whatever other arrows you choose at him, but the 33-year-old has run through several eras of sprinting. He won his Olympic title 11 years ago. A decade ago he left a gangly 18-year-old Bolt trailing home last as he won the World 200m title in Helsinki. He may lack remorse but not experience. All that might count against any other opponent. Not Bolt. Gatlin had to be up on him at 50m. He had to be dominating the champion's eyeline at 100m to hope to defuse Bolt's greatest weapon of all, that sweet acceleration off the bend and away up the straight. Instead Bolt never even saw him. Away from the blocks, eating up the bend, warm night air between him and the supporting cast as they faded away behind him once again. Gatlin was quiet afterwards, the simmering aggression of his Diamond League wins all summer replaced by a melancholy resignation. He knows he may never have a better chance of http://www.nflbrownsofficialshop.com/Authentic-Dwayne-Bowe-Jersey winning back a global title. It is not just his age, although he will be 34 by the time of the next Olympic 100m final.
